description
This near complete Carpoid has been preserved along with its counterpart, which is an unusual occurrence and highly aesthetic. This fossil was discovered in 1970 and resided in the late professor GORDON WALKDEN collection. The detail on the carpoid is very nice. One for the discerning collector. Carpoids are a member of an extinct group of unusual Echinoderms and are approximately 460 million years old. Unlike other Echinoderms, the Carpoids display no radial symmetry.
