description
This is a rare leaf impression from the Bovey formation, some 30 million years old. This deposit is the result of the degradation of the neighbouring Dartmore granite and was laid down in a lake during the late Eocene and Oligocene period. The Bovey formation is a major source of ball clay - a fine grained clay used by the pottery industry. A specialist piece for the specialist collector.
