|
Lepidotes is an extinct genus of ray-finned fish. It's diet consisted of shellfish and a polyp extraction from corals. This fine specimen has lots of teeth in its jaws with stunning detail throughout. These fish fossils from this locality are becoming incredibly scarce to obtain thesedays. This specimen has both eye sockets preserved, one perfect, the other crushed. Fantastic detail on the head plates and a lovely patina throughout. This tremendous fish head resided with the late GORDON WALKDEN. Approximately 128 million years old. |
