description |
|
A superb display ammonite with fantastic preservation. Ammonites of this size and quality from this world famous fossil locality are becoming very rare to find thesedays due to the lack of erosion. This particular ammonite was discovered by Andy Cowap on a recent trip some three years ago. The fossil has been prepared within a sea-worn nodule and has taken many hours to get to this standard. The matrix has a cut base for ease of display. The beautiful coloured calcite has many shades of yellows and browns and really stands out against its light grey matrix background. This superb display ammonite would suit either the collector or indeed an interior designer. A very small patch has been strengthened on the reverse side of the nodule this does not detract whatsoever. Approximately 175 million years old. |
