description |

This spectacular multi-ammonite fossil is one of the largest Arnioceras nodules every discovered on the Yorkshire coast. Every ammonite has been preserved in different shades of brown calcite. The fossil itself has taken weeks to prepare in Yorkshire around 5 years ago and was discovered in 1978 as a huge storm washed the nodule up onto the shore. To find another Arnioceras nodule this size in the future, is highly unlikely from this stretch of coastline. Our research has confirmed that the UK museums cannot match this specimen for size. The fossil comes with a display stand and with the correct lighting focussed on the ammonites, this wonderful mass mortality will come to light within the nodule. A one off piece for the serious collector or interior designer looking for that special fossil for maximum impact for their clients. This magnificent fossil is approximately 206 million years old. Please note that there are larger images in "Show Case Fossils" of this fine specimen and more images are available on request. |
