description |
|
This Parkinsonia retains most of its shell with the odd serpulid wormtube attached. The extreme centre however, has not been preserved but some of its mouth border remains. The main feature is the extremely rare gastropod (Apporhais sp). Usually if these gastropods are discovered they are only partials whereas this one is totally complete. Collectors of rare UK fossil gastropods will appreciate this stunning specimen. Also washed near the ammonite's aperture, is a belemnite guard (Passaloteuthis appicurvata), another gastropod (Natica subelegans) and a bivalve shell (Ornithella cf laganalis). This specimen was discovered in 2006 in a large cliff fall. Approximately 167 million years old. |
