description |
|
A very unusual display piece which is visually stunning. The ammonites have been preserved in brown and yellow calcite. At the top of the matrix is a lovely section of "dog tooth" calcite crystals, which is such an unusual occurrence for an iconic locality. Multi ammonite fossils preserved in this way from Marston Magna are extremely rare. The matrix has a cut base for upright display. Approximately 200 million years old. Prepared by Andy Cowap. |
