description |
|
This amazing fossil is totally natural and unique. After death of the ammonites they drifted down tot he sea floor and one has landed on top of the other, then fossilised in that position. The larger ammonite has shell missing in a few places, so this may have been on the sea bed first being rolled around, before the perfect ammonite landed on top of it. This piece was collected in the early 1980's from a temporary exposure. Many painstaking hours have gone into preparing this wonderful fossil. The perfect ammonite on top has an immaculate centre and small inner spines preserved. A complete one off specimen for the discerning collector. Approximately 170 million years old. |
