description
This excessively rare crinoid fossil from Scunthorpe is the "Holy Grail" for serious collectors. To our knowledge, with advice from two museums, this specimen is one of four even remotely intact crinoids ever discovered at the world famous Conersby quarry, long since filled in. The only reason this specimen has been preserved is that it has been protected within a large Pinna Bivalve during fossilisation. The crinoid took many hours of meticulous preparation perfectly executed by Andy Cowap. The specimen was discovered in 1988 and has remained with Andy ever since. The detail on the solid calcite crinoid is truly wonderful. This is one of the most important fossils ever offered on fossils direct. Approximately 195 million years old.
