description |
|
An absolutely magnificent specimen which exhibits an almost complete head and sweeping cirri from the crinoid's stem. Approximately 425 million years old. These near complete crinoids were discovered in 1979 in a locality which is world famous for its Silurian fossils. To discover any quality specimens today is highly unlikely. This superb piece resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. Next to the main specimen lies a small juvenile crinoid, these are extremely rare to find. To have them on the same piece of stone is incredibly scarce and we think, a complete one off. One for the serious collector of rare UK crinoids. |
