description |
|
This is the only Pseudomelania we know about from the Oolite of Bearreraig with the shell intact and to the very tip. Any Gastropod material from this world famous fossil locality is extremely rare, we have only ever found around ten specimens in over 25 years of collecting this site. There is also two ammonites on the matrix (Ludwigia cf obtusiformis 19mm & 20mm) which not only adds to the aesthetics but the all important zone. Serious collectors of rare Oolithic Gastropods will appreciate how rare a find this really is. Approximately 175 million years old. |
