description |
|
This stunning specimen is from an old museum collection and was collected in Victorian times. This classic Gastropod is incredibly scarce from this iconic Eocene locality. The outer lip has expanded and has a large flare which is fused to the spire, the lower face of this carries a deep groove along the junction with the spire. Usually in most cases, there is little or no flare preserved or the apex or axis fusiform has been damaged or just not preserved. Serious collectors will appreciate how rare this specimen is and the chances of finding one today from this locality are extremely slim. The cornerstone of any Barton collection and the quality is marvellous throughout. Fossils Direct are constantly striving to bring our customers both old and new, the very finest fossils from around the United Kingdom. Approximately 40 million years old. |
