description |
|
Although this cone is most the negative, there are dense patches of clear seed which under magnification are superb in detail. Fir cones from the Oolite are extremely scarse and only a handful are known. This fine specimen was discovered in a temporary exposure in 2001. Next to the cone is an ammonite, Sonninia (euhoploceras) acanthodes. The matrix has been shaped to fit into a collectors drawer. A real one off fossil which is approximately 171 million years old. |
