description |
|
A beautifully preserved partial skeleton which has been preserved in a hard mudstone nodule and then expertly prepared using acid techniques to reveal the Ichthyosaur's delicate bones. Any substantial bone material from the Lyme Regis area is very rare to obtain or collect thesedays. This stunning piece displays vertebrae and ribs with the back end of the skull and a complete eye ring. Also the fossil shows the important occipital bone at the back of the skull. Only very rarely do pieces of this quality come onto the open market for sale. A bespoke perspex display case and brass name plate is included with this fossil. Approximately 200 million years old. There are more images available on request and larger images in "showcase" fossils. |
