description |
|
This complete tail vertebra from a marine crocodile is approximately 165 million years old and the detail throughout is stunning. This ancient crocodile had paddles and not feet as modern crocodiles do today. The vertebra was discovered in Fletton brick pit in 1971 and has remained in the same collection ever since. All the brick pits around the Peterborough area have now been filled in and most have housing estates on them. These world fmaous reptile sites are now lost forever - very sad !! A lovely collectors piece. |
