  This double leaf fossil has wonderful close up detail and colouration. It was discovered in 1971 and has remained in the late professor GORDON WALKDEN collection ever since.   This beautifully preserved example was collected in 1971 and is approximately 50 million years old. Thi8s famous Eocene plant bed on the Isle of Wight is no longer accessible to collect these ancient plants. This leaf has lovely surface detail and has been nibbled at some point by an insect.   This Pteridosperm (seed fern) is a leaf frond preserved within a nodule. It was found in a stream bed in 1967 and has remained in the late Professor GORDON WALKDEN collection ever since.
