This very rare example is difficult to identify as we've never seen one like it before and it is possible it's a new variant of a Dipoloceras? The venter and nodes are astonishing. Certainly one for the serious collector of Gault Clay ammonites. There is also some red irridescence to the ammonite. Approximately 108 million n years old. This large and beautiful Parkinsonia was discovered circa 1995 from a locality which is no longer accessible to collect fossils. The ammonite is highly ribbed and has an immaculate centre. The specimen has been left on a small piece of matrix which has a cut, flat base for upright display.
