| description |

| First described by Sowerby in 1821, this rare Gault clay ammonite would be a lovely aquisition for the serious collector. When turned to the light, the surface irridescence is amazing, with the most intense colour being green on both sides with the odd flash of pink. Collected in the early 1970's this magnificent specimen resided, until now, in the Gault Clay Underhill collection. There is a small patch on the venter, which has not preserved, otherwise this is a marvellous specimen. Approximately n108 million years old. Finding ammonites on this famous stretch of beach thesedays, is difficult, especially top quality ones. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
