| description |
|
| Described by Prinz in 1904 this exceptionally rare ammonite from the oolite is more or less the 'Holy Grail' for the collector of Phylloceras ammonites, especially from the United Kingdom. This temporary exposure in 1986 bypassed the town of Bridport, any fossils from this road cutting are extremely rare to obtain thesedays, however we believe there were less than half a dozen Phylloceras discovered. This marvellous specimen was found by the late John Huxtable then purchased and prepared by Andy Cowap, it's resided in the Andy Cowap collection until this day. This wonderful specimen may possibly be the rarest ammonite/locality we have ever offered for sale on Fossils Direct, certainly from the oolite. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
