| Ichthyosaur jaw sections full of teeth very rarely come on to the open market for sale. This wonderful and dramatic specimen was discovered in 2001 and has been acid prepared by the late David Costin, a pioneer in the preparation of vertebrate fossils with various acid techniques. Temnodontosaurus was one of the largest of all ichthyosaurs growing to lengths of 35 feet plus, this jaw section belonged to a juvenile animal, which their remains are far rarer than adult specimens. The teeth and jaws have incredible detail and there is a solitary tooth on the reverse side. One for the discerning collector of English fossil reptile material. A unique piece which is approximately 200 million years old. Mary Anning patrolled this exact patch of beach some 210 years ago. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
