| description |

| A great amount of painstaking work, using traditional techniques, has gone into this stunning nautilus. No iron powder used. The nautilus has been preserved in a pale yellow transluscent calcite and it has been prepared both sides, so light passes through and the nautilus glows and all its internal chambers are visible. A marvellous and unique fossil prepared by Andy Cowap. On the reverse side is a large Gastropod specimen )Obornella granulata), which is a real aesthetic bonus. Fossils of this class and calibre very rarely come on to the open market for sale. This specimen was discovered in 1990 and has remained unprepared until this day. The matrix has been sculptured, along with a flat base for upright display. Approximately 170 million years old. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
